Welcome to our 2005/2006 year in Cub Scouting!  A special welcome to all our new Scouts and their families.  Thanks to all the volunteers that have helped get the new year off to a great start.

Den Assignments

There have been a few adjustments to the Den assignments. Please check the roster at the table. Any questions or errors, please let me know. We have at least temporarily combined Webelos Dens 6 & 4 due to the lack of Leaders. If anyone is interested in being a Webelos Leader, please let me know.

Cub Field Day

The Occonneechee Council Cub Field Day will be held on Saturday Oct. 8th. There is a signup sheet and information sheet on the table. The cost is $5 and it runs from 10am – 3pm at the NC Hwy Patrol Facility on Garner Rd. Looks like a lot of fun is planned.

Family Camping at Falls Lake – Rolling View, Group Site #2

We will be having our first camping outing Saturday & Sunday November 5-6th. It will be at the Falls Lake Recreational Site. You can arrive after 8am on Saturday and will run through about Noon on Sunday. We will have activities planned for the day and a campfire that night. We need some help coordinating the trip, so please let me know if you are interested.

The site is similar to the Jordan Lake facilities with the lake within walking distance, and the bath facilities nearby. We should be able to fish and hike and we will likely have a Ranger come by to do some nature training or a hike. Please sign up and pay by November 1st. The cost is $8 per person ($2 per meal if not staying for the entire weekend, free for siblings under 5)

T-Shirts

Pack 201 T-shirts are available.  The cost is $8.00.  Good quality shirts – these are considered Class C uniforms and are worn at Scouting events when a full uniform isn’t necessary.  These also help identify our boys in a crowd of Scouts.

Popcorn Sales

Nicole Gutierrez has volunteered to be our Popcorn Kernel.  Information packets will go out tonight.  Please see Nicole tonight if you have any questions. This is our main source of funds to run the Pack.  We will be doing some “Show & Sell” this year – sign up at the table (one time per Scout).

Luminaria

Luminaria is a special service project which Pack 201 (and most scouts in Cary) does every year.  We need volunteers to help prepare the kits on Nov 15 during the Den Meetings.   Please sign up at the information table tonight.  (Tigers don’t do Luminaria).  Ginger Haroldson has volunteered to be our Luminaria coordinator.  More information to come on this service project.

Helping Out With a Den

If you know you are going to be around for the hour your son is in his den meeting, volunteer in your son’s Den or another Den or help out with the Pack.  Don’t be afraid to volunteer because you have little ones – bring them along.  We need 2 Leaders for Webelos 1 Den 4 and a second leader for our new Webelos 2 Den 8.  If you are interested in volunteering to be the second Den leader, please let me know.

Helping Out With the Pack

Pack 201 expects every parent to volunteer for at least one event during our scouting year. This could be popcorn, luminaria, pinewood derby, Blue and Gold committees.  Cub Scouting is a family program, and our program is only as strong as the adults who volunteer their time to make the program happen. Please visit the pack table this evening and sign up for at least one activity.
